Artist Profile: Aquadis Isaac

As it stands in mid-September 2024, the Billboard 100 Alternative and Rock chart features a shocking lack of new talent. Three of the top five positions, The Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails, and a newly-reformed Sublime with the late Bradley Nowell’s son as the singer, are occupied by bands that have existed for over thirty years.

Yellowcard, taking spot #4, is nearing this mark as well. Only Role Model, who was born around the time these bands were in their heyday, could be considered “recent talent.” Even then, he has been active as a musician for nearly a decade. We at Conundrum Records believe it is time to promote some underground, emerging alternative artists. Enter Aquadis Isaac.

Isaac’s music is quite different from the bands described above. Do not expect the upbeat, sunny singing of Jakob Nowell, or intense guitar riffs of Nathan Mendel. His music is dreamy and ethereal, occupying the more indie-driven side of “alternative” music. His album art reflects this. Beaming light in the sky, old-fashioned cash registers, and other such single/album artworks promote the dreamlike feel. Even his persona has an air of mystery. His only online outlets are low-key on instagram and X profiles. Whereas many artists would rush to put a backstory or accolades in their Spotify artist description, Isaac keeps it simple: “I make music for fun don’t expect this sh*t to be good.” We at Conundrum, and his nearly 45,000 listeners, don’t agree with this assessment.

Over the past three years, Isaac has released three studio albums and twelve singles. His most recent album, My Dear Starchild, was released in May of this year. Motel, his most recent single, was released this month. His output has increased considerably over the past year and his efforts are paying off into a strong musical career.
