Artist Profile: DarriusTheGreatest

Though his feud with Kendrick Lamar has earned him a lot of haters, this has not stopped Drake from reaching a major milestone. Across both solo efforts and cameos, as well as collaborations, Drake has become the first artist in Spotify history to earn 120 billion streams. To put that into perspective, 120 billion seconds totals out to roughly 3,800 years–the time of Ancient Egypt and the Bronze Age. It is safe to say Drake does not need an artist profile to get his name out to the public. Instead, we’d like to focus on what is surely one of many rappers influenced by him over the years. Introducing DarriusTheGreatest.
Born circa 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, DarriusTheGreatest developed an interest in musicmaking and Hip Hop culture from a young age. He cites Frank Ocean, J. Cole, Kanye, Drake, and XXXTentacion among his biggest muses.
In 2018, at the age of seventeen and fresh out of high school, he released his first and most successful single to date: “Nvm.” Possessing the sophisticated R&B undertone of Frank Ocean and the synth-ish, low-end production frequency common of Southern Hip Hop. “Nvm” helped Darrius develop a small cult following in the summer of 2018. As of late September 2025, the song has racked up an impressive 7.6 million streams on Spotify and is his most successful single to date.
Since Nvm’s breakout success, Darrius has released a studio album, 2019’s Take a Look–and a few more singles. Since his admission to The Savannah College of Art and Design, he has not been quite as focused on his musical career. Still, his efforts have earned him over 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and significant followings on Instagram and X.
