If retail environments are anything to go off of, Halloween is right around the corner. There are just seven more weeks standing in the way of the spookiest day of the year. Though the French government collapsing and Guatemalan national football team very barely hanging on to World Cup contention may be scary for some, the eerie ambience of Halloween has yet to emerge. However, you can get a head start with the hard-hitting, aggressive trap metal of Baby Gos.
Over the past half-decade, Baby Gos has built a prolific catalog of music. He has gone on to release countless singles since his 2021 debut Stick Up, and has a debut album in the works.. These efforts have paid off, earning him nearly 40k monthly listeners on Spotify and over 1,500 followers on soundcloud. He has not gotten here by holding back or shying away from the macabre. Among his song titles are the likes of “Apostasy,” “Taboo”, and “Withered,” often written in all capital letters. As for the songs themselves, they feature a unique mix of deep, thumping bass and heavy guitar riffs, alongside vocals that mix rapped verses with shouty, powerful choruses. Himself based in West Texas, his music screams an angst and energy that could only come from the Texas plains: hot sun, endless flat plains, a place where the “wild west” was never fully tamed.
